Southern Surf Stomp! presents The Delusionaires (FL), Vacations, The Cherry Bomb, and The Fringe Factory DJs

The Delusionaires - Imagine yourself in a smoky lounge which time has forgotten and whose patrons have been there since anyone remembered.  An old jukebox is playing some old country or R&B tune to which an old couple dances, and a few men sit at a bar sipping their whiskeys and High Life's in silence.  A band sets up in the corner where no one seems to notice.  Soon they begin playing and folks begin filtering in as the night progresses and before you know it people are gyrating, debauch commences and the night blurs into the next day.  The band in question...The Delusionaires.  Equal parts raunchy surf and sleazy, sax driven R&B, the group provides the soundtrack to curvy, dancing go-go girls in pasties.

Athens, Georgia's Vacations are newcomers in the Southern surf scene.  The trio's style varies, ranging from gritty garage instrumentals to cinematic numbers that create a moody vibe.

The Cherry Bomb worships at the alter of Joan Jett as well as all things rock 'n' roll, and front-woman Amy Arnold is her prophet, channeling Jett with unmatched energy and power.  I first heard the band when The Mystery Men? played with them at Hollyfest 2014 and I was enamored, so much in fact that when it came to needing a voice for Kill, Baby...Kill!'s cover of The Causey Way's "Commandments" for their latest single, she was my first and only suggestion and boy did she deliver!

Southern Surf Stomp! presents Chad Shivers and the Silent Knights, Caroline and the Ramblers, and The Fringe Factory DJ's

This year marks the fifth year my group Chad Shivers and the Silent Knights has performed the Ventures Christmas Album, and the second for the Beach Boys Christmas Album.  Historically the show has been held at the Earl in Atlanta but we are extremely excited to bring it to the Southern Surf Stomp at Kavarna this year.  This has become a special event for all of us and we look forward to it all year long.  Of course we will be joined by our Jingle Belle dancers as well.

The Silent Knights are:
Chad Shivers (MOONBASE, The Mystery Men?, Bicycle Eaters) - lead guitar, vocals
"Little Saint" Nick Bazemore - lead vocals, guitar
David Northrip (the Fugitives) - vocals, guitar
Eric "The Talent" Balint (MOONBASE, Bicycle Eaters) - bells, percussion, keys
Matt Steadman - bass guitar
Sonny Harding (MOONBASE) - drums

The Jingle Belle dancers are Jessica Shivers (aka "Cherry") and Morgan "Mo" Bazemore.

Check out last year's performance:

Caroline and the Ramblers is Atlanta's best roots group specializing in rockabilly, country, early rock 'n' roll, and blues.  Caroline commands audiences with her powerful voice, is a staple in Atlanta's music community, and is a HUGE supporter of surf music having even performed at Douglasville Surf Fest.  Her backing band The Ramblers are all seasoned veterans and wildly talented instrumentalists.  Together they write absolutely wonderful songs and really know how to put on a great show.

Also joining the show will be the Fringe Factory DJ's, which spin the best in garage, punk, psych, soul, and wild rock 'n' roll.  The trio of Vikki Vaden, Glynis Ward, and Richard Whig really do it all from radio, live performance, as well as even hosting their own shows.  Up until recently they could be heard on AM1690 Atlanta and are currently on WFMU's Rock 'n' Soul Ichiban Wednesdays at 8pm.

The Knights will be also be performing several other dates around the Southeast:
*12/5 - Charleston, SC at the Tin Roof w/ Silver Bells. 9pm, $5, 21+.
*12/6 - Savannah, GA at the Wormhole. 10pm, more info at wormholebar.com.
12/18 - Marietta, GA at the Strand w/ Jeffrey Bützer/T.T. Mahony's Charlie Brown Christmas tribute, Jeffrey Bützer and the Bicycle Eaters. 8pm, $15, all ages.
12/19 - Anniston, AL at the Crimson Tiger w/ Kill, Baby...Kill! and many more.  8pm, $5, 21+.
12/20 - Birmingham, AL at the Syndicate Lounge w/ The Original Shake Charmers. 9pm, $10, all ages.

Southern Surf Stomp! presents The Ampfibians (OH), Ivan Pongracic (MI), and Jeffrey Bützer and the Bicycle Eaters

The AmpFibians are a trio from Cincinnati, Ohio which play groove oriented surf that borrows elements from spy themes, psychedelia, jazz, blues, and even raunchy R&B to make each tune a new experience.

Ivan Pongracic is a household name in the modern surf music scene and for good measure.  He has fronted two of the most legendary bands within the genre, The Space Cossacks (from 1996 to 2000) and The Madeira (from 2004 to present).  The Space Cossacks toured the US extensively and released three albums (including a greatest hits compilation) and a slew of singles and compilation appearances.  The Madeira has also toured the states extensively as well as Italy including a performance at the Surfer Joe Festival in Livorno.  They've released five albums including a live album, have been featured in Guitar Player magazine, and 2014 marks their 10th anniversary as a band.  His backing band for this particular show will feature members from The Mystery Men?, The Penetrators, The Surge, and Small Reactions.

Jeffrey Bützer is a multi-instrumentalist (piano, accordion, drums, guitar, and much more) with interests in many genres of music (including surf!).  With his band, he specializes in French chamber-pop with spaghetti western guitars.  The music is very cinematic and nostalgic without instantly conjuring any particular style, period, or band(s).  A bi-lingual vocalist (French/English), cellist, percussionist, guitarist, bassist, and drummer make up the septet of the Bicycle Eaters.

Video for The Disasternauts

Southern Surf Stomp! presents The Disasternauts (FL), The Fugitives, and The Wheelknockers

The Disasternauts (Tallahassee, FL) is THE "All-star Astro-Chimp Surf Band" that plays a wide variety of styles within the surf genre, doing so with speed, aggression, technical proficiency, and plenty of volume.  These hominids have performed all around the Southeast including The Hukilau (one of the world's largest Tiki events), Drive-Invasion, Bubbapalooza, and have even played out West during the Surf Guitar 101 convention.  Members for this particular show will include personnel from The Intoxicators and The Mystery Men?.

The Fugitives are relative newcomers to the Atlanta surf scene and too play loud, aggressive, and technical instro surf.  Playing covers ranging from Dick Dale to the Meters, they aim to please and get the audience shaking.

The Wheel Knockers offer up alt country tinged indie rock.  Band leader Jet Powers is no stranger to surf music however, having performed with the legendary Penetrators as well as El Capitan and the Scallywags.
