Our last show of the year! We've got Atlanta rockers The Indicators (featuring one of my favorite guitarists in town, Michael Goldman) reuniting for one night only, San Antonio's psych surfers Nuclear Juarez, Spaghetti Western inspired solo guitar from my main man Jeffrey Bützer, and special guest DJ Brian Parrish, host of "The Casbah" radio show on KSYM and drummer for Nuclear Juarez.

Southern Surf Stomp! presents Ouroboros Boys, McPherson Struts, MOONBASE

Much like February's Stomp, we have another StompFest favorite returning on March 13th.  Asheville's Ouroboros Boys are bringing their mandolin lead, classic surf sound with a bit of a dreamy vibe to Kavarna.  Having recently release their first official 7" single and music video, these guys are going to be hitting the pavement hard this year and we're proud they've chosen to make Atlanta one of their stops.

Speaking of hitting the pavement, not many bands do it harder than Alabama's McPherson Struts.  The trio is a well oiled rock 'n' roll machine performing loud and gritty music infused with country, punk, rockabilly, metal, and much more.  Their leader is the lovable Buck McPherson, who sings and plays the drums whilst standing.

Atlanta's number one progressive surf instrumental combo MOONBASE will be returning to the Stomp for the first time since the release of their debut record "Creation Myths" in August of 2014, their first show since September.

Southern Surf Stomp! presents The Monterreys, Bruce Joyner and Atomic Clock, The SideBurners

August marks the triumphant return of Charlotte, North Carolina's The Monterreys.  Not only were they the first group to headline the inaugural Southern Surf Stomp! but will be the first to do so for a second time.  The trio plays a powerful brand of surf with a world music influence, guitarist Johnny Stewart also a flamenco guitarist.  After losing their previous bass player Leon Daniel, which is now working on his solo project The Wrecks House amongst other things, they were fortunate enough to be joined by Aqualads' (and now Southern Surf Stomp contributor) Jeremy DeHart.  Reinvigorated by the change, the band will be bringing fresh songs, their fabulous new record "The Pharaoh", and even a different look with them to Kavarna.

Bruce Joyner is a legend in the underground garage rock scene with his seminal work with The Unknowns and will also be returning to the Stomp for a second time with his band Bruce Joyner and Atomic Clock.  The front man has a larger than life presence and having seen he and guitarist Tom Byars perform in different configurations with various groups over the past decade or so, I can honestly say this iteration is by far the best I've ever seen.  They nearly blew the roof off the place last time and people were practically begging me to have them back.

Southern Surf Stomp! presents The Ampfibians (OH), Ivan Pongracic (MI), and Jeffrey Bützer and the Bicycle Eaters

The AmpFibians are a trio from Cincinnati, Ohio which play groove oriented surf that borrows elements from spy themes, psychedelia, jazz, blues, and even raunchy R&B to make each tune a new experience. 

Ivan Pongracic is a household name in the modern surf music scene and for good measure.  He has fronted two of the most legendary bands within the genre, The Space Cossacks (from 1996 to 2000) and The Madeira (from 2004 to present).  The Space Cossacks toured the US extensively and released three albums (including a greatest hits compilation) and a slew of singles and compilation appearances.  The Madeira has also toured the states extensively as well as Italy including a performance at the Surfer Joe Festival in Livorno.  They've released five albums including a live album, have been featured in Guitar Player magazine, and 2014 marks their 10th anniversary as a band.  His backing band for this particular show will feature members from The Mystery Men?, The Penetrators, The Surge, and Small Reactions.

Jeffrey Bützer is a multi-instrumentalist (piano, accordion, drums, guitar, and much more) with interests in many genres of music (including surf!).  With his band, he specializes in French chamber-pop with spaghetti western guitars.  The music is very cinematic and nostalgic without instantly conjuring any particular style, period, or band(s).  A bi-lingual vocalist (French/English), cellist, percussionist, guitarist, bassist, and drummer make up the septet of the Bicycle Eaters.

Southern Surf Stomp! presents the High Fidelics (AL), the Zaratans (AL), and the Biggie Rats

Birmingham's High Fidelics are quite an eclectic instro group including Edwin Cleverdon on guitar, Jeff Waites on bass/bass vi, Robert Huffman (who played with the legendary Penetrators) on organ/keys, and Ken Adams on drums.  Imagine equal parts Ventures and Booker T. & the M.G.'s being performed by a punk band and you'll have somewhat of an idea on their sound.  Their debut album is absolutely killer and rumor is they are working on a new one.

The Zaratans are also from B'ham and share High Fidelics member Jeff Waites.  These guys (and sometimes gal) play original and classic surf as well as old rock 'n roll and R 'n B.

The Biggie Rats feature members from surf/instro groups in Atlanta (Gemini 13 and Chad Shivers & the Silent Knights) and will perform a smoking set of covers from classic psych, garage, and punk.

Southern Surf Stomp! presents Phatlynx (NC), Gemini XIII, and Air Wolves

North Carolina's Phatlynx are the ultimate southern fried homage to Link Wray...and the other white meat.  In reality they are so much more, cooking up styles from surf, rockabilly, and R&B.  Crispy Bess, the group's leader, is a rock legend of epic proportions having played with Southern Culture on the Skids, Uncle Tupelo, and Tiny Tim...yes, THAT Tiny Tim.  Bess is also the organizer and promoter for the world's largest instrumental music festival, the Instro Summit.

Gemini XIII are relative newcomers to the Atlanta surf scene although member Lester Dragstedt has played a big role in the punk world since the 80's with his band The Nightporters.  The group started primarily as a cover band but has since focused on some very strong originals.  I am a big fan and supporter of this group and see some great things in their future.

Air Wolves feature former members of the Love Drunks and Can Can, and play gritty garage punk a la the Stooges.  The Wolves recently released their debut CD recorded by our friend John Breedlove from Hip To Death.

Southern Surf Stomp! presents the Monsters of Surf featuring DAIKAIJU (AL), Kill, Baby...Kill! (AL), The Mystery Men?, and El Fossil

This show is bound to be our biggest and wildest yet.  Unlike May's all vocal lineup, June's stomp features four instrumental groups that can be heard on the recently released compilation "Monsters of Surf".

Seeing Daikaiju is not just a concert, it's an experience.  These masked maniacs are the hardest working surf group and have performed all over the world. 

Kill, Baby...Kill! is one of my absolute favorite bands on the planet.  These apocalyptic surf punks from Alabama are at the top of the game their songwriting, musicianship, and performance.

Who are The Mystery Men?  No one really knows for sure but they are sure to bring their eclectic blend of surf with a triple guitar assault.

El Fossil plays a noisy sort of thrash surf.  These guys are just a blast to watch and if the music doesn't move you, the witty stage banter will be sure to keep you smiling.
